T-Mobile Galaxy Tab launching Nov. 10 for $399

We already knew that the Galaxy Tab was going to be coming to all four major US carriers, and now we have more details about the T-Mobile version. Sprint and Verizon announced their pricing not too long ago, and T-Mobile's version falls right in line.

The device will launch on November 10, and will cost $399, after a $50 rebate and 2-year contract. It will require a data-only plan (no voice calling) which costs $30 a moth for 5GB of bandwidth. Pricing without a contract was not specified.

To recap, the Galaxy Tab is a 7" tablet which runs Android 2.2, has a 1GHz processor, and both front and rear-facing cameras.

On the one hand, this pricing seems about right. Phones cost $200 on contract, and nobody complains about that, so a tablet costing twice as much doesn't seem out of line. But at the same time, this device is half the size of the iPad, requires a contract, and only costs $100 less than the cheapest iPad. I think they'll still sell quite well, but...it's not for me. At least the data price isn't as outrageous as Sprint's version.

As I said before, I think these are overpriced. And, given the announcement of Barnes & Noble's Color Nook, they might have priced themselves out of the competition. I'm sure this will still appeal to some people, but I'm definitely not one of them.
