It's time once again for a weekend rumor recap here at His and Hers Android! This is where we briefly summarize the best Android rumors from the past week. To follow the rumors live as they hit the wire, we recommend any of the fine Android blogs listed on the right side of this site. Now, for the rumors:
First up is a rumor from Phone Arena that the previously-rumored Sansung Continuum, Samsung Zeal, and Motorola Citrus will all launch on Verizon on November 11. The Continuum is a unique, dual-screen device, while the Zeal and Citrus are both inexpensive, entry-level devices.
Ryan says: The Continuum looks like a really cool device, and I want to check it out. That second screen just sounds so incredibly useful.
Shelsy says: The Continuum does look interesting, but I don't really care when it's going to launch, to be completely honest. :-)
That same date may be significant for other reasons, as another rumor says that Google will launch the Gingerbread SDK on November 11. The SDK (software development kit) is always released first, to give developers a chance to look at what's new. It is usually quickly followed by the first official phone running the new OS.
Ryan says: Woohoo, finally! The SDK gives us our first glimpse of what Gingerbread will look like and what new features will come with it. Can't wait to see the new stuff!
Shelsy says: I'm also very excited to see what Gingerbread is going to include. I can't wait to update my phone!'
Speaking of the first phone to run Gingerbread, rumors have been flying recently that there is an upcoming device from Samsung called the Nexus 2 or Nexus S that will run stock Gingerbread. Now, according to Tech Crunch, the device may have been delayed. Samsung is holding a special event tomorrow, so we'll likely find out for sure very soon.
Ryan says: Can't say I'm all that interested in this device, since it's by Samsung, but if it's the first Gingerbread phone, it will be super cool regardless. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it, if it's true.
Shelsy says: I don't know anything about this phone, but I think it's a good thing that Google is continuing the Nexus line, even if the new phone isn't by HTC. I'm curious about how the device will be marketed and sold compared to the Nexus One.
And finally, we have a rumor from Android Life, complete with some photo-proof, saying that the WiFi only version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab has been delayed until sometime next year.
Ryan says: Sigh, the good stuff is always delayed. Oh well, I can't afford a tablet anyway, so, while disappointing, this doesn't affect me much.
Shelsy says: Yeah, it seems like this happens a lot. This could be unfortunate for Samsung because I think a lot of people would be interested in a WiFi only version, and this just gives the competition more time to catch up.
