Verizon Droid Pro available Nov 18 for $179

The Droid Pro, which Verizon made official in early October, now has an official launch date and price. It is available for pre-order starting tomorrow, and will actually be on sale on Nocember 18. The device will cost $179 on contract after a hefty $100 mail-in rebate.

The Droid Pro is a world-phone, running on Verizon in the USA, and various other frequencies around the world. It features that unique vertical non-slider keyboard design with a 1GHz processor, 3.1" screen, 5MP camera with flash, and runs Android 2.2, Froyo with the same skin that's on the Droid 2 and Droid X. This looks like a seriously impressive device! I love the look of that keyboard, and being a former BlackBerry user myself, I can attest to the extreme usefulness of having the keyboard so easily accessible. That hundred dollar rebate is a bit hard to swallow, but ultimately the device being less than $200 is great. More Android phones for businesses is a win win for everyone.

I also really like the design of this phone. If you can live without the Droid's monstrous screen, this is a really great option. I love having a slide out keyboard, but this style is super convenient. This is a great switchover device for BlackBerry users. This is only the second Android device with this keyboard style, and it's a heck of a lot prettier than the Charm.
